A Father’s Day Message

A Father’s Day Message, shared by my friend, Juvenal, with his congregation

Dear Friend,

This morning I read for the third time Janet Flaugher’s “My Father’s Voice,” a story of Janet’s father, a war veteran, public school administrator, the embodiment of kindness, and one who believed that every life has value. William Schumacher never spanked his kids, but he guided them through reasoning, listening, and discussion. The title of the book is apropos because it describes Mr. Schumacher in its totality; he set the tone for a nurturing environment whereby everyone can grow. I love this book so much because I want to be like Mr. Schumacher, a beautiful specimen of a human being. Often, we learn who we are by how others perceive us and having a sense of wonder and appreciation of others is healthy and wise.

As you reflect on your earthly and your Heavenly Father during the month of June, I hope that you will be encouraged to redouble your efforts to make a positive difference within your sphere of influence. A sign outside a home in our neighborhood reads, “There are many kind people in this world. If you cannot find a kind person, be one!”
